Cameras

When selecting a CCTV camera, the purpose of capturing an image should always be paramount in your mind. Effective camera operation needs more than just the right camera. Its positioning, housing and fixings need to be right too. Whether you need pan and tilt units, the tallest towers, or IR lighting, you can source it from GM Security Systems.
Demand for domes has mushroomed in recent years, and the dome is now a common sight in many internal and external environments. Discreet and stylish, and with the same breadth of function as standard cameras, these units are more difficult to disable than traditional CCTV cameras. This is due to their shape, thick acrylic bubble and hidden cabling.

From fixed domes, designed to monitor a single field, to speed domes with pan/tilt and zoom focus functionality, we can ensures the right camera for your exact need is always in stock.

Lenses

Closely related to your choice of camera must be your choice of lens. Unless you have selected a camera with an inbuilt lens (such as a dome, or one of the few cameras with integral lenses), you will need to consider a separate lens for your camera.
Recording

Video Cassette Recorders

The workhorse of CCTV installations, the VCR deserves more attention than it often receives. Although VCRs have been with us for over twenty-five years, the technology has continued to advance and is very effective.

Digital Video Recorders

DVRs represent the new standard in CCTV recording. By using an internal hard disk for digital image storage, DVRs offers the following benifits:

 High Quality Images
 Total playback control
 Functions galore
 Extensive network capability
 Low maintenance

Monitors

Its features and quality should match or exceed the quality of the camera. This ensures the best image quality and minimises the degradation that occurs naturally with transmission through cabling.

For a monochrome camera system there is no advantage in a colour monitor. The serviceable monochrome unit is the cost-effective option, with many offering a higher resolution in terms of TV Lines than colour monitors. Monochrome is also suitable for an unmanned surveillance system.

For high quality manned surveillance systems it makes sense to install a high-resolution colour monitor. Be sure that the resolution of the monitor at least equals that of the camera, to gain full value from your investment in the front end of your system. Finally, for aesthetic and space saving reasons, a flat screen monitor may be preferred.
